Quality<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As a manufactory we pay attention to quality, durability, origin, and beauty of our chosen materials. We mostly work with wood, which we value as stored solar energy and a renewable raw material. We use local woods with attention to detail and with a competent team that enjoys collaboration! We also consider this a form of quality. We continuously strive to work on solutions with the aim of creating high-quality and durable products that will give you pleasure for a long time to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Making of the Sound Cradle (\u201cKlangwiege\u201d)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The idea was a semicircular shell to lie in. The outer edges should be fitted with sounding piano strings. Apparently noboby could build it. Really? I took this as a challenge. In the workshop I tested suitable woods to achieve the round shape. To hollow out a tree would be a fine thing, but would it be rigid enough?How high are the tensile forces of the strings? What about drying cracks? That seemed too fragile to me. A glued bond of thin layers of veneer would be of higher quality and more durable. Due to the short wood fibres, beech is ideally suited for this purpose.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Suitable Wood?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A mould was built and the first beech shell was created. After numerous experiments, the first sound cradle was presented at the Music Therapy World Congress in Hamburg in 1996 about 28 months later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 90’s there were still several sawmills specialized in beech veneers. In the meantime many had stopped production, so it is becoming more and more difficult to find good quality wood and veneers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
